The Family Wall on a computer: the day at a glance
On a computer, the Family Wall is a full-screen overview of the family's day for a spare laptop or screen: the clock, today's timeline, who is doing what, what's next, dinner, what's coming up and the week ahead.
Where to find it
More → Family Wall
On a computer, the Family Wall is laid out as an overview of the family’s day, for a spare laptop on the worktop or a monitor or TV plugged into a computer.
- Sign in at app.equal.house (see sign in on your computer).
- More → Family Wall.
- Make the browser full screen (F11 on Windows, Control-Command-F on a Mac) and leave it there.
What it shows
- Across the top, a large clock and the date, the household’s balance this week (the Fairness Score), Bric, and Back to the app.
- Today, as a timeline with a line for now. All-day events sit above it.
- Who’s doing what: a lane for each person, with what is theirs today and what is already done.
- Next up, with how long until it starts, and what is on now.
- Tonight’s dinner, from the meal plan.
- Coming up: birthdays, parties and renewals in the next two months. The list scrolls slowly, and stops while the mouse is over it.
- The week ahead, in seven columns from tomorrow.
It only shows. Nothing on the wall changes anything: to tick a job or move an event, go Back to the app, or do it on a phone. The wall refreshes itself, so a job ticked on a phone shows as done a few minutes later.
Bric on the wall
Bric looks happy by day and sleepy in the evening, and cheers once when everything due today is done, as he does on the tablet wall.
Keeping the screen on
The browser can’t stop the computer going to sleep. In the computer’s power settings, set the screen to stay on while it is plugged in. Our guide to turning a spare screen into a family wall has more on setting one up.
In a small window
The overview needs room. In a narrow browser window the computer shows the same wall as a tablet does.
