The same four steps, whichever app you are leaving

  1. Keep the old app running while you move, and for a week or two afterwards, so nobody misses anything while the rest of the family catches up.
  2. Bring the calendar across. Where the old app can share a calendar link, Calendar Sync (Pro) shows it read-only and keeps it up to date. Where it can't, link the Google, Outlook or Apple calendar behind it (see link your calendar), and let Magic Add read a screenshot of the rest.
  3. Copy the lists by hand. None of the family apps we have looked at can send its lists straight into another app. Shopping goes on the shared shopping list, jobs become tasks, and the ones that come round again become repeating tasks.
  4. Invite the family. Grown-ups get an invite; children sign in with a picture code and an optional PIN, with no email address.
