So — whose party is it, and which of your two is going?

Somebody has to drive her there. This time it is Sam, and now it is written down rather than assumed.

Your own recipes, saved
Keep the meals your family liked from a plan, type in your own, or photograph one from a cookbook — up to four photos when it runs over the page — and Equal House reads it into a recipe for you to check before it is saved. They are on the Meals tab, under the shopping list, and any of them can go on a night of a plan. Reading a recipe from photos comes with a monthly allowance: 3 a month on the free plan and 20 with Pro. On a computer at app.equal.house now, and in the next version of the phone app.
A family shopping list, in aisle order
One list for the whole household, with or without a meal plan: add anything — bin bags, a birthday card — and the week’s ingredients join it. It runs in the order you walk round a UK supermarket, one line per thing, and whoever is at the shops ticks items off while everyone sees it update, so nobody buys the milk twice.
Parties for anyone
A child’s birthday, Grandad’s seventieth or a leaving do: gift ideas to suit, the photographed invitation to hand, and the jobs that come with it — the card, the present, the lift — for the grown-ups, so a party is organised without one person holding it all in their head. Untick a job the party doesn’t need, add it back later by editing the party, and tick each one off on the party’s own page. Choosing the jobs is on a computer now, and in the next version of the phone app.
The school run
Set up your children’s school once — drop-off and pick-up times, the days you run them — and every run for the term lands on the shared calendar, not the chore list, alongside each child’s uniform, PE and swimming days. Setting up a school is part of Equal House Pro, because a term runs for months.
Renewals, on one list
Note the car insurance, the MOT, home insurance and passports once, with as much warning as you want, and each is marked Coming up ahead of its date — or Overdue if it slips past. When you renew, it asks for the next date. Part of Equal House Pro.
Cooking becomes shared, and timed for dinner
A meal plan automatically creates “Cook tonight” tasks, shared out fairly so the person who planned dinner isn’t the only one who makes it. Set when you eat and the cooking is scheduled to be ready for then — the recipe’s prep time is worked back automatically, for the whole household or a different time on any day.
Speak it, don’t type it
Tap the mic and say it out loud — “book the dentist by Friday”, “Leo has swimming Tuesday at 5” — and “Speak it” turns your words into suggested events and tasks. It sits at the top of Magic Add, so you always review and confirm on screen before anything is saved. Part of Equal House Pro — snapping a photo or pasting text into Magic Add is free, up to a monthly allowance.
It all feeds the Fairness Score
