Family wellbeing tools, and a kinder way to talk things through

Take a Breath, a private diary, UK helplines — and Safe Space for the hard conversations.

Sharing the load is about how a home feels, not just who does the dishes. Equal House includes a quiet corner for wellbeing and a calmer way to raise the things that are hard to say — built with privacy first, so the most personal parts stay personal.

What you get

01

Take a Breath

A guided 4-4-6 breathing circle for when things get too much — no account, no network, just a moment to reset.

02

A private diary, kept on your device

My Journal is a diary with a page a day, and a question or two for the days you don’t know where to start. It is kept only on your phone — or, on a computer, in that browser — and never uploaded, not even to us. Set a daily reminder on your phone if you want one, and share a day, a few days or the whole diary yourself, as text, whenever you choose. The page-a-day diary is on a computer now, and in the next version of the phone app.

03

Help, a tap away

A curated list of UK helplines — Samaritans, SHOUT, NHS 111, CALM, Mind and the National Domestic Abuse Helpline — with tap-to-call or text, each number written out to copy, and a clear route to 999 in an emergency. Reach Out also opens a private conversation with another grown-up at home.

04

Safe Space for the hard conversations

Write down what’s on your mind, choose the grown-up you want to talk to, and Equal House gently lets them know you’d like to talk it through calmly, with gentle talking points and, if you want, a countdown timer (any length up to an hour, with a soft chime when time’s up) to keep it unhurried. Some things are easier said than written: speak for up to five minutes instead, see your words appear as you talk, and the recording is kept with the note for that grown-up — and nobody else — to play. Once you’ve talked it through, tuck it into an archive. Safe Space has its own tab, and is part of Equal House Pro.

05

A quiet place

Nothing celebrates in Safe Space or Wellbeing — no confetti, no buzz, no cheer from Bric — and notifications that arrive while you’re there come in quietly.

Safe Space in Equal House, opened from More: a note inviting you to add something you would like to talk about calmly, then four of Rachel’s topics for Sam — remembering presents for friends’ parties and after-school clubs (shared), weekend lie-ins (talked about) and sharing the school run now Leo is in Year 3 (a draft)
Safe Space: raise something hard, calmly.
