Start fresh: clear the chores and calendar, keep the family
Clear the household's chores, repeating chores, calendar events and school runs, all of them or only those before a date, and keep your family, logins, documents, pocket money and subscription.
Where to find it
More → Settings → Start fresh
A first evening can go wrong: a chore added once for every person, a school entered twice, the ready-made list picked twice. Start fresh clears the chores and the calendar so you can set things up again, without losing the family.
- More → Settings → Start fresh.
- Choose what to clear. All four are ticked to begin with:
- Chores: every job on the list, finished ones included.
- Repeating chores: the repeats themselves, so nothing comes back tomorrow.
- Calendar events: anything on the calendar that is not a chore.
- School runs: the schools that make them, so the runs stop being rebuilt.
- Leave Clear everything on to clear past and future alike. Or turn it off and pick a date, to clear only what is dated before it.
- Tap Count what this clears. Nothing is removed yet: it tells you what would go, such as “This removes 214 chores and 38 events.”
- Tap Clear it, and confirm.
This cannot be undone. There is no restore.
What stays
Everyone in the family, with their logins and settings. Your documents, the children’s pocket money and your subscription are not touched, and nor are your routines or house notes.
Worth knowing first
- Repeating chores includes pets’ care routines. Their repeats go too, so a pet’s feeding or walks stop coming round until you add its care routines again in Pets.
- A date doesn’t limit repeats or school runs. They aren’t single dates but what makes them, so clearing them stops everything they would have made, before and after your date.
- A chore with no due date is only cleared with Clear everything, because it has no date to be before.
- A meal plan’s cooking tasks and calendar entries are chores and events, so they go with those.
- Linked calendars stay linked. Their events are cleared, but anything still in the calendar you linked comes back on its next sync. To stop that, unlink it first in More → Calendar Sync. See bringing in a calendar.
Who can do it
Every grown-up sees Start fresh in Settings, but only the household’s owner or an admin can clear anything. Anyone else sees a note saying so at the top of the screen, with the choices greyed out.
Leaving altogether
Deleting your account goes much further: for the last grown-up in a household it takes the documents and the children’s profiles with it. If you only want a clean slate, start fresh instead.
