Add a task
Put a job into the household's shared list — who it belongs to, when it is due, and how much effort it really takes.
Where to find it
Home tab → Add
Tasks are the raw material of everything else in Equal House. The score, the rebalancing and the children’s pocket money all come from them.
- On the Home tab, tap Add.
- Give it a name, pick who it belongs to, and set a due date if it has one.
- Set the difficulty — see below. This matters more than people expect.
Difficulty is the important field
Difficulty is how Equal House knows that unloading the dishwasher and doing the weekly shop are not the same job. It drives the Fairness Score, and for children it drives pocket money.
Set it honestly rather than generously. A household where everything is difficulty 5 is a household with no fairness information at all.
Unassigned is allowed
A task with nobody on it sits in the shared list for whoever gets to it. That is often more honest than pretending you know who will do it.
Adding a lot at once
- Starter chores gives you a ready-made list to pick from — see starter chores
- Magic Add reads a newsletter or a photo and suggests what is hidden in it
- Voice — tap the microphone and say it
Ticking it off
Tap the circle on the home list, or on the row in the calendar. If a grown-up needs to approve a child’s completion, it waits for that.
