Which suits which family
Cozi
Cozi is the better choice if you want a free shared calendar that looks 30 days ahead, a web app, or several named lists. The Equal House app is the better choice if you want the calendar, meal plans, kids' chores with pocket money and the school run in one app with no ads, and the household work shared fairly between the grown-ups.
Cozi vs Equal HouseFamilyWall
FamilyWall is the better choice if you want location sharing, a family chat, photo albums or a budget in the same app, or a web app. The Equal House app is the better choice if you want meal plans from 6,031 recipes, kids' chores with pocket money and their own sign-in and the UK school run, with the household work shared fairly between the grown-ups, for less than FamilyWall Premium.
FamilyWall vs Equal HouseEqual House
The Equal House app suits a UK family that wants the calendar, meal plans, kids’ chores with pocket money and the school run in one app with no ads, and the household work shared fairly between the grown-ups. It does not do location sharing, a family chat, photo albums or a budget, has no web app, and its free plan plans 3 days ahead.
Every featureIf all you need is a shared calendar
You may not need any of the three. On iPhones, Apple’s Family Sharing already gives everyone in the family group a shared Family calendar and a shared Reminders list, and Google Calendar can share a calendar with the family on any phone. The apps on this page earn their place when you want more than dates: lists, meals, children’s jobs and who is doing them.
Moving from Cozi or FamilyWall
Both can share their calendar as a read-only iCal link, which Equal House’s Calendar Sync (Pro) can subscribe to; lists have to be copied across by hand. Step by step: moving from Cozi, moving from FamilyWall, and, if your app is closing, moving from Maple.
Questions people ask
Which is better, Cozi or FamilyWall?
It depends what you need. FamilyWall does more on its own: location sharing, a family chat, a photo gallery and a budget, and its free calendar has no stated limit on how far ahead it looks. Cozi’s strengths are a simple shared calendar and lists, a free plan that looks 30 days ahead, and AI meal and event tools in its Max plan. Both run in a web browser, and both have the same owner, In Tandem.
Is Equal House better than Cozi or FamilyWall?
Not across the board, and we would not claim it is. Cozi’s free calendar looks further ahead, both rivals have a web app and sync with Google or Outlook calendars (FamilyWall with Premium), and FamilyWall also has location sharing, a family chat, photos and a budget, which Equal House does not. Equal House is ahead on kids’ pocket money and children’s own sign-in, family documents on the free plan, and a Fairness Engine that shares the household work between the grown-ups, and unlike Cozi’s free plan it shows no ads. Meals and the school run are done differently: Equal House plans from its own 6,031 recipes and a UK school directory. The table on this page sets out each row with its source (checked on 9 October 2026).
Are Cozi and FamilyWall the same company?
They have the same owner. In Tandem, the parent company OurFamilyWizard launched in September 2024, owns OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall and Custody Navigator. The two apps are still run as separate products.
Can I try Equal House Pro before paying?
There is no automatic trial, and the free plan is free for as long as you like. Families moving from another family app can claim 31 days of Equal House Pro with code SWITCH until 23:59 UK time on 31 March 2027: no card, nothing to cancel, it never turns into a subscription, and it works once per household, once per person and once per email address (limited to the first 10,000 households). See equal.house/switch for every condition.
Cozi and FamilyWall are trade marks of their owners, which are not affiliated with Equal House and have not endorsed this comparison. Spotted something out of date? Email hello@equal.house and we will correct it.
