40 min Serves 4 ~£5.20 (£1.30/serving) PescatarianKid-friendly

Ingredients

  • 300 g macaroni pasta
  • 320 g tinned tuna in brine
  • 200 g broccoli
  • 500 ml whole milk
  • 40 g plain flour
  • 40 g butter
  • 150 g mature cheddar
  • 40 g breadcrumbs

Method

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Cook the macaroni in salted boiling water, adding the broccoli florets for the last 3 minutes. Drain well.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a saucepan, stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk over a medium heat until a smooth, thick sauce forms.

  3. 3

Remove from the heat and stir in three-quarters of the cheddar. Season lightly.

  4. 4

Drain and flake the tuna. Stir the tuna, pasta and broccoli into the cheese sauce and tip into an ovenproof dish.

  5. 5

Mix the remaining cheddar with the breadcrumbs and scatter over the top. Bake for 20 minutes until golden and crisp.
