Slow-Cooked Spiced Lamb Shoulder with White Beans
Ingredients
- 1000 g lamb shoulder joint
- 800 g tinned haricot beans
- 400 g tinned chopped tomatoes
- 2 onion
- 5 clove garlic
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- 2 tsp ground coriander
- 300 ml chicken stock
- 3 tbsp olive oil
Method

Preheat the oven to 160°C. Rub the lamb shoulder all over with allspice, ground coriander, salt and pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large casserole dish and brown the lamb all over for 8 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Fry the sliced onions in the same pot for 5 minutes. Add the crushed garlic, then pour in the tomatoes and stock.

Stir in the drained haricot beans, nestle the lamb back on top, cover tightly and cook in the oven for 3 hours until the lamb is falling apart.

Shred the lamb into the bean stew using two forks. Adjust seasoning and serve with flatbreads or rice.
