  • 240 g tinned sardines in olive oil
  • 8 thick-cut white bread
  • 200 g tinned chopped tomatoes
  • 1 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • 10 g fresh parsley

Method

    Toast the bread until golden.

    Drain the sardines. In a small pan, cook the crushed garlic for 30 seconds, then add the chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce and chilli flakes. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.

    Add the sardines to the pan and gently break them up with a fork, warming through for 1–2 minutes.

    Season well and spoon generously over the toast. Scatter with fresh parsley and serve hot.
