20 min Serves 4 ~£4.30 (£1.07/serving) VegetarianKid-friendly

Ingredients

  • 4 thick-cut white bread
  • 400 g chestnut mushrooms
  • 100 ml double cream
  • 2 clove garlic cloves
  • 10 g fresh thyme
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. 1

Slice the mushrooms thickly. Crush the garlic and strip the thyme leaves.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a wide frying pan over high heat. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5–6 minutes until golden.

  3. 3

Add the garlic and thyme, cook for 1 minute, then pour in the double cream and Worcestershire sauce. Bubble for 2 minutes until the sauce coats the mushrooms. Season generously.

  4. 4

Toast the bread, pile the creamy mushrooms on top and serve immediately.
