Ingredients
- 600 g sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 80 g plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 400 ml whole milk
- 200 ml vegetable oil
- 600 g baking potatoes
- 20 g butter
Method
- 1
Boil the potatoes for 15-18 minutes until tender, then drain and mash with the butter and a splash of the whole milk.
- 2
Dust the steak pieces in half the plain flour, dip in the beaten eggs mixed with a splash of the whole milk, then dust again in the flour.
- 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through to your liking.
- 4
Pour off most of the oil, leaving 2 tablespoons with the browned bits. Stir in 2 tablespoons of the remaining flour and cook for 1 minute, then whisk in the remaining whole milk and simmer for 4-5 minutes until thickened into a gravy.
- 5
Serve the steaks with the gravy spooned over, with the mashed potato.
