Beef Picadillo with Olives and Raisins

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef mince
  • 400 g tinned chopped tomatoes
  • 80 g pitted green olives
  • 50 g raisins
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 onion
  • 3 clove garlic cloves

Method

    Finely chop the onion and crush the garlic. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and soften the onion for 5 minutes.

    Add the garlic, cumin, and smoked paprika. Stir and cook for 1 minute.

    Increase heat, add the beef mince and brown well, breaking it up for 5–6 minutes.

    Stir in the tinned tomatoes, olives, and raisins. Season with salt and pepper.

    Simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce has thickened. Taste and adjust seasoning.

    Serve over white rice with a wedge of lime and sliced avocado if liked.
