Sesame Beef Teppanyaki Rice Bowl
Ingredients
- 600 g beef sirloin steaks
- 320 g Japanese short-grain rice
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 clove garlic cloves
- 20 g fresh ginger
- 25 g sesame seeds
- 2 mixed peppers
- 4 spring onions
- 2 tbsp mirin
Method
- 1
Cook the rice according to packet instructions. Whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin, crushed garlic, and grated ginger to make a marinade.
- 2
Thinly slice the beef sirloin against the grain. Toss the slices in the marinade and leave for 10 minutes.
- 3
Slice the peppers into strips. Heat a large wok or flat griddle until very hot and stir-fry the peppers for 3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- 4
Fry the marinated beef in the hot wok in a single layer for 1-2 minutes each side until caramelised. Work in batches to avoid steaming.
- 5
Serve the rice topped with the beef and peppers, drizzle over any remaining pan juices, and scatter generously with sesame seeds and sliced spring onions.
