What Bric knows
The short facts about your home that Bric keeps in mind when he answers: how to add, keep, change and remove them, and what he won't keep.
Where to find it
Bric tab → What Bric knows, or More → Settings → What Bric knows
From version 1.16.0 of the app.
What Bric knows is a short list of facts about your home that Bric keeps in mind when he answers, such as who does the school run on Fridays or which evening is swimming. Any grown-up here can see and change them. Open it from the ⋮ at the top of Bric’s page, or from More → Settings, under Connect apps & AI.
Add a fact
Tap Add a fact, write one short sentence, such as “Leo has swimming on Tuesdays”, and tap Add. A fact can be up to 140 characters. It is kept at once, and Bric uses it from your next question.
When Bric offers one
When you tell Bric something lasting in a chat, he may offer to remember it. A card under his answer says Remember this? with the fact: tap Keep to keep it, or No thanks to let it go. Nothing is kept until a grown-up says yes. An offer you have not answered also waits on this page under Bric offered for 14 days, with the same two buttons.
Change or delete a fact
Tap a fact to change its words, then tap Save. To remove it, tap Delete and confirm. Bric stops keeping it in mind straight away.
What Bric won’t keep
Bric won’t keep facts about health, relationships or money. When a fact uses words about one of them, it is not saved and the page says so, for example “Bric doesn’t keep anything about health, so this wasn’t saved.” This is checked on our server before anything is saved, whichever app or phone the fact comes from.
The check goes by the words a fact uses. It is deliberately cautious, so now and then it turns down something harmless, such as a job title or the word “pay”. Reword it and try again: “Rachel works nights” is kept where “Rachel is a nurse on nights” is not. Going by words, it can also miss something said another way, so please leave anything about health, relationships or money out yourself.
Who can see them
Any grown-up here can see the facts, and add, change or remove them. Bric keeps up to 30. With each question they are sent to our AI provider, Amazon Bedrock, which processes them in the UK and the EU, so Bric can use them in his answer. They are never used to train AI.
On the Free plan
The page works on every plan: you can add and change facts, and keep Bric’s offers. Bric uses the facts when he answers questions, which comes with Pro.
